This actually gets to 20% after about half a mile, but that is pretty much the top. I have only riden this twice this year but this time I manged to ride it without stopping so things are looking up.
I missed out on the ballot for RideLondon 100 miles so I decided to get an entry via a charity place, this has given me even more motivation to train and support a great charity. I chose Sue Ryder who provide compassionate care and support for people with palliative, long-term and end of life needs. This blog will chart my journey as I get ready for 100 miles in August. If you would like to donate and help motivate me please click my black & white photo. Many thanks Martin.
Oooh, that looks nasty. I need to track this down and give it a go too! Where might this treasure be ?
ReplyDeleteIts called The Hale http://www.streetmap.co.uk/idld.srf?x=489460&y=207265&z=120&sv=489460,207265&st=4&ar=y&mapp=idld.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=847&ax=489460&ay=207265&lm=1 Its quite short and not a great surface but will now be on my hilly route. Googleing "steepest hill in Chilterns" suggested one out your way, Holloway Lane out of Turville and goes up to Ibstone. Do you know it, have you riden it?
ReplyDeleteYes, I do know that hill and it beat me fair and square last year - I will try it again with my new mega fitness!!! (and triple chainset) - I bet I can do it! I won't make it to The Hale, just out of reach for me. Cheers
ReplyDeleteGood idea to re visit the hill so you can have a true measure of your new found fitness.
ReplyDeleteI always say as long as I can do the same as last year I must be fitter as I'm actually a year older:) I might try and plan a long ride to Turville and give it a go.
